Based in Dallas, Texas, 12 Oaks was founded by the late Charles C. Blaylock in 1983. Drawing on his experience as a single family, multi-family and nursing home developer, dating back to 1962, Blaylock saw the need for congregate senior living outside the established institutional settings.

Richard K. Blaylock, Owner, Director and President of 12 Oaks, brings with him a wealth of experience regarding all aspects of real estate. Mr. Blaylock is a 1981 graduate of Southern Methodist University, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and with Certificates of Real Estate and Real Estate Finance & Mortgage Banking. While at SMU, he made his way from a walk-on to a starting position for the football team, earning three varsity letters, as well as one varsity letter as a freshman for track.
After graduation, he assumed a full-time position in Commercial Real Estate Brokerage with Dallas-based Sherwood Blount & Company. He left Blount & Company in 1987 for the opportunity to work with his father at 12 Oaks.
As President of 12 Oaks, Dick’s activities include new business development, finance, acquisition, and oversight of the management team.
Paradigm Senior Living was established in 1994 and is a professional management and consulting firm that specializes exclusively in the development, marketing and management of Senior Living Communities.
Paradigm Senior Living is recognized nationally for its work in financial and market feasibility, research, senior living marketing, operations management, and innovative resident assessment and care programs. Paradigm Senior Living provides project feasibility, market research, facility design and operations consultations nationwide.
The company has been instrumental in the acquisition, development, marketing, and ongoing operation of more than 75 Senior Living Communities throughout the United States including Continuum of Care Retirement Communities, Age Restricted Housing, Assisted Living, and Memory Care communities totaling more than 6,000 living units and valued at more than $750MM. PSL has been involved as Management Agent for $150 MM of HUD 232 insured loans.
Lee E. Cory is the founder and President of Paradigm Senior Living and has been a nationally recognized speaker and educator for many regional and national seniors housing and health care associations including the National Association for Senior Living Industry Executives (NASLIE), Member and Past Board Member – Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA), Advisory Member The American Seniors Housing Association (ASHA), AIC Conferences, and The American Health care Association (AHCA).
Mr. Cory’s viewpoints and insights have been published in numerous trade periodicals including Assisted Living Success, Journal of Property Management, Retirement Community Business, Contemporary Long Term Care, Assisted Living Business, and Assisted Living Today and his work in Assisted Living Facilities has been acknowledged by the American Seniors Housing Association’s “Senior Housing Success Stories.”
He is a Co-Author of the Assisted Living Manual published by ALFA, is a faculty member of the Assisted Living Institute and is a contributing author of Housing for Seniors: Developing Successful Projects, a publication of the Urban Land Institute. Mr. Cory earned a BS Degree from Michigan State University in 1979.
