Incident Recording and Tracking

The Carevium Resident Care Management system streamlines incident reporting and maintenance in elder care communities and residential care homes. Through the Incidents module, a nurse, caregiver, administrator, or other staff member can very easily document any significant incident which takes place (e.g. a fall, an injury, an accident, medication error, etc.)

What is stored in the Incidents log?

Individual incident reports are stored permanently in the Incident Log unless they are deleted by management. A Search feature allows looking for a particular incident report among many that may be listed for a resident. The Incident log can also be printed for any specified time period to be able to share with a physician, family member, etc.

Who can have access to Incident reports?

Health professionals and family members can also have direct access to a resident’s Incident log if they are given user access permission. Then, they can see real time updates when an incident happens and not have to wait for a staff member to call and explain the situation to them.  Alerts can also be set up for staff members, family members, or other health professionals to notify them that an incident has occurred for a senior resident.

Enhancing communication and making information readily available are two very important functions of the Carevium system that are exemplified in the Incident module. Not only will family members and health professionals appreciate being up-to-date in real time for any incident that happens to a resident, but also an inspector or compliance official may value the electronic recording system as an accurate means to capture and store incident events.

Can Incident logs help with compliance?

Incident logs are stored and kept in the resident’s Carevium electronic file even after his/her death or move-out from a facility.  This type of record keeping could be useful in case there is ever any legal issue that comes up or if there is a necessary audit to see what kind of treatment a resident was getting. Keeping accurate electronic Incident logs through Carevium can assure facility administrators and owners that they are doing their best for documentation purposes.
